Minoura V-series

The V-series have the Advanced Magnetic Technology resistance (AMT). This AMT design offers a more realistic pedalling experience and ultra quiet operation. This is achieved by using much stronger magnets and the unique stepped design exposed flywheel. This translates into smoother transitions between power levels and a pedalling experience to match on-road riding. Most models feature the quick release wheel/hub clamping system.

Positioning of the V130 model in the range

This model is the entry model the V-series offers. It offers a very strong 460 Watts of resistance, ultra quiet operation and the Remote Control lever.

Quick release wheel/hub clamping system

The V130 features a convenient quick release type hub clamping system, allowing you to engage/release the bike very quickly. By moving the special lever up/down, the right side coupling slides in/out, fixing/releasing the wheel from the frame. This is a great time saver in setting up time, before/after your workout. After you secure the wheel/bicycle, you tighten the resistance unit against the tyre itself with a dial-knob.

AMT and Ultra low noise

The AMT design is not just a better magnetic design; it also offers the quietest trainer on the market. There is no other trainer like it; the AMT models set the World standard for Ultra quiet.

The V130 Magnetic Resistance Unit

This unit has 460 Watts of power, which is 5% more than the M80. This does not seem like a lot, but pushing 5% more at 40 KmH is a much harder workout. There are 7 levels of resistance, controlled via the Remote lever. The flywheel is an exposed type, for improved cooling. The stepped design puts more weight at the outside of the flywheel, giving a much higher virtual weight than the actual. It weighs 1.1 Kg, but acts the same as a 1.5 Kg model of a standard design, which gives the extremely smooth pedalling motion.
This unit can also be used with the Watt-Master computer, which monitors output power, speed, cadence, time and distance, for a more motivational training workout. The Watt-Master also allows you to pre-determine the workout. It can also be used on the road, as a basic computer.

The U-shape frame

The V130's frame design was built for strength and stability. It uses large 38mm steel tubing for the U-shape, which is durable enough to supply 100% support, for riders up to 120 kg in weight. The U-shape is supported by 29mm legs, which fold slightly outwards for a very stable platform. The legs also fold flat for best possible storage.

Advanced Magnetic Technology explained

Better pedalling action and wider/smoother resistance range

The AMT units are recognised by the exposed type flywheels, for improved cooling. The stepped design puts more weight at the outside of the flywheel, giving a much higher virtual weight than the actual as you are speeding up. This means that when you start from nil, it acts like a small flywheel, easy on the muscles and machinery. As you speed up, it increases by more than a third, which is very noticeable. Moving a trainer with less flywheel weight is also nice.

As far as power goes they get more power than M-series, via the much stronger Neodymium magnets. Because of the unique Minoura design, it has again very constant power and no fading as the unit warms up. With the AMT design the flywheel is actually part of the resitance system, by supplying interference to the magnetic flow, which causes resistance. Please be aware the flywheel gets hot and spins at a high speed, so do not touch during or after a workout.

The AMT units resistance levels have exact calculated steps between them, unlike most other systems. Most others have up to 50% of the levels that are so close together, that the rider cannot notice any difference. Minoura levels have a noticeable output difference for each and every level.

The V130 can also be used with the Watt-Master computer, which monitors output power, speed, cadence, time and distance, for a more motivational training workout. The Watt-Master also allows you to pre-determine the workout. It can also be used on the road, as a basic computer.

AMT Magnet Technology

The magnets used in the AMT units are Neodymium material. These are 4x stronger then standard Ferrite models.
and change characteristics even more. Therefore AMT offers a reliable resistance and troublesome usage for many years, which is not possible to achieve with Fluid.

Remote Lever Design

The Remote Lever uses a nylon strap to fasten itself to either handlebar or stem, what ever shape it might be. After the length of the strap is set, the actual fastening is done via a quick release tab.

U-shape Frame Design

The V130's frame design was built for strength and stability. It uses large 38mm steel tubing for the U-shape, which is durable enough to supply 100% support, for riders up to 120 kg in weight. The U-shape is supported by 29mm legs, which fold slightly outwards for a very stable platform. The legs also fold flat for best possible storage.

Quick Release Wheel Clamping

All M-series models feature a convenient quick release type hub clamping system, allowing you to engage/release the bike very quickly. By moving the special lever up/down, the right side coupling slides in/out, fixing/releasing the wheel from the frame. This is a great time saver in setting up time, before/after your workout. After you secure the wheel/bicycle, you tighten the resistance unit against the tyre itself with a dial-knob.

Cautions

Important Notice

  • Flywheel and Alloy Rotor become very HOT while workout. Do NOT touch them during and at least for 15 minutes after finishing session.
  • Flywheel and the rear wheel are spinning very fast and will cause serious injury if you touch them. Keep children and pets away from trainer while using.
  • The maximum load of V130 is 120 kgs including bike weight.
  • The couplings fit the supplied quick release skewer only. You cannot use your own skewer on V-series trainer. You must replace the skewer before use.
  • Hub nut type bike should have fitting problem. The inner diameter on coupling is larger than the hub nut so we cannot guarantee the stability. Replace the left side coupling to the optional special one.
  • Any bike with internal transmission type hub cannot be used.
  • V130 does NOT have the Foot-Step. It's the normal knob bolt style.

Shifter Operation #1

I cannot set the shifter at "L" position

It may occur that the lever will go back to "1" position automatically even if you twist the remote shifter lever to set at "L" position. This is because the remote cable tension adjustment is not done properly (the cable length is too short).

Firstly, extend the cable as straight as possible.
As the general habit of the cable, if it's coiled, the inner cable will have to be retracted and it will cause the cable shortage. You need to set the cable as straight as possible.

Secondly, check if the cable tension adjustment screw is properly adjusted.
Pull out the black plastic cap from the foot of the cable, then you will see the adjusting screw.
Check the gap between the lock nut and the screw head. If there is any space between them, tighten the nut toward screw head to make the gap to zero.

Thirdly, turn the remote lever strongly beyond "L" position. This will push the outer cable to pull out the inner cable.

It should be up to 20 degrees. Be sure over-tightening the lever may cause serious damage to the inside mechanism.

If you cannot get any good result after trying above 3 issues, contact the shop where you purchase the trainer to replace the remote cable.

Shifter Operation #2

When setting the lever at "H" position, I listen a hitting sound

It's the sound the magnet plate hits the plastic housing. It's not a defect.
If you want to erase it, adjust the cable tension adjusting screw at little bit tighter. However, it will cause another problem that it becomes harder to set at L.

Shifter Operation #3

The lever goes back toward "H" while pedaling

You see a bolt in the center of the remote shifter. It works keeping the lever in position. Tighter the bolt, tighter the lever.
Our magnetic resistance unit has a habit that the magnet will go back toward "H" position naturally, because the magnets are pulling each other.
At this time, if the center bolt has been loosened, the lever cannot be kept in certain position and will move toward H one or two steps.
To solve this problem, tighten the center bolt a little more by M4 hex wrench.
Be sure too much tightening will cause another problem that it will have to become hard to operate the lever.
