Gravity frame is constructed with Main frame and Sub frame. They are connected with a single pivot like as L-shape.
The biggest feature on gravity frame is that you are completely free from the roller pressure adjustment against rear tire.

Ordinary bike trainer frame supports and lifts up the bike rigidly by clamping the rear hub with couplings, and the roller must come contact to the rear tire. You must re-adjust the pressure when you change to different size wheel.
On gravity type frame, your own weight will be applied to the roller directly via rear wheel. You don't have to adjust the roller pressure on any size wheels. So it's almighty and easy-to-use.

The biggest negative point on tire drive trainer is the tire wearing down. It must occur.
You need to micro-adjust the roller pressure on the ordinary type to expand the tire life, but the roller pressure on gravity frame is done automatically and you are free from troublesome job. Your concern is just taking care of the air pressure only.

Too durable trainer frame sometimes gives you unrealistic riding feel, but MAG850LG's gravity frame is designed to have artificial flexibility to allow you to swing the bike side by side as per pedaling.

Our gravity frame fits the wheel sized 26", 27" and 700c. 650c and 29" are not compatible.

The maximum load on MAG850LG is slightly lower than the other models; 100 kgs including bike weight.

We Minoura is the pioneer of magnetic resistance system on bike trainers.
At that time, there were only two ways to generate resistance; Wind fan and Roller contact. Fan type was really loud even though its performance was very nice. Roller type had to be worn down very quickly and completely uncontrollable.
Our patented system was really welcomed to the people in '80s who wanted quiet and smooth resistance system.

The basic mechanism of Eddy Current System is very simple.
There are two magnets facing each other, and an alloy disc is located between the magnets.
The magnets pulls or pushes each other depends on the position. N-N or S-S pushes, and S-N pulls. Line of magnetic force get stronger when the magnets pull each other. At this time, the power the alloy disc cuts the lines becomes the resistance.
One side magnet is fixed on the housing and another magnet can be rotated. By this mechanism, the resistance level can be easily controlled from low to high by changing the angle of the movable magnet.

The current unit has almost same mechanism, but each parts has been tuned up to improve the quality.

We think it is necessary to have a high grade flywheel for providing quiet and smooth pedaling feel even on lower grade model. Low quality flywheel often gives uncomfortable vibration during ride and it disturbs total satisfaction of you.
We adopt the high-precision machined flywheel for MAG850LG instead of just steel disc type.

• Mag resistance unit may become HOT while workout. Do NOT touch it during and at least for 15 minutes after finishing session.
• The rear wheel spins very fast and will cause serious injury if touch them. Keep children and pets away from trainer while using.
• The maximum load of MAG850LG is lower than standard models. It's 100 kgs including bike weight.
• Gravity frame doesn't allow you dancing on bike.
• The couplings are specially designed to fit the supplied quick release skewer. We strongly recommend you to replace the skewer to the supplied one for using the trainer. We will not guarantee anything if you use your own skewer on MAG850LG.
• Any bike with internal transmission type hub cannot be used.
• Hub nut type bikes can fit MAG850LG.
