What's mini-velo?

"Mini-Velo" is the category name of small wheel bikes such as folding bike. Now mini-velo is becoming very popular in the market, especially in big cities in Asia and Europe.
M20-D is the specially designed model for those bikes to allow using for indoor training, not just riding outside.
M20-D fits the wheel between 18" and 20", so it's possible to use with BMX.

Two different 20" sizes

There are two different tire sizes even in same "20-inch" category; 406 and 451.
"406" is the standard 20" tire which is usually found on most folding bikes.
"451" is a special size for sport model. It looks nearly 22" size.
They are completely different and there is no compatibility between them. You must be careful. The size is found on the side wall of the tire and rim.
M20 is fortunately compatible with both 406 and 451 sizes.

Milder performance Mag unit

M20-D's Mag unit setting is a special one. It's between M60-D and M70-R.
Smaller wheel generates more torque than standard 26" or 700c wheel, so the weak setting M60-D's unit will give jerky pedal feel. However, strong M70-R's setting should not be good for the target user.
We magnetize by ourselves in the factory so adjusting magnet power is easy.
M20-D generates 370 watt at 40 km/h. It's higher than M60-D and lower than M70-R.
3 levels of resistance is selectable via the manual lever on the unit.

Special Low Height Frame

Only for 18" & 20" wheels

M20 is a specially crafted model based on M-series. The main frame height is lowered to fit 18" and 20" wheels only. Not compatible with any other sizes.

The main frame is made of same material for the new M-series; it's 38mm diameter steel tubing so it supports your weight stably up to 120 kgs including bike weight.

The legs are shortened to fit the smaller frame, but the tube diameter is same to other models (29mm). Also the leg opening angle becomes much wider to keep same level stability.

Quick Hub Clamping System

For minimizing your bike installation/removal time

We have been adopting a plain thread type hub clamping handle for long time for clamping/releasing the bike to/from the trainer.
The large handle helped the operation so it was not so difficult, but it's true that this style has to take longer time than quick release system. And you had to keep holding the bike with another hand during this operation.

Both V-series and new M-series adopt the long-awaited quick hub clamping system on the right side (rear cog side). Just push down the lever, the coupling slides inward to catch the hub acorn nut in a second. Pull up the lever to release the coupling from the acorn nut,

Coupling distance adjustment is done by changing the left side coupling position.
The left side coupling is made of very durable single-piece solid bolt. A lock ring is built in it to fix the coupling position.

The standard setting will fit the rear hub width between 120mm and 145mm.

On every V-series and new M-series, the coupling is designed to be compatible with the supplied quick release skewer only. You must replace the rear wheel quick release skewer to the supplied one.
When using the bike with plain nut type hub axle, you will not use the supplied skewer and replace the left side coupling bolt to the optional special one.

Milder Performance

For the comfortable ride in daily exercise

Trainer is originally developed for building up your muscle and increasing your cardiopulmonary function to win the race, so high power is usually welcomed. It is the core target user for most trainer manufacturers.
However, on the other hand, we know there are many people who wish to use the trainer for their daily light indoor exercise in order for reducing body weight or rehabilitation. The majority of those group is women and aged people. They don't need so much power, What they really want is just smooth pedaling.
M20-D is a specially tuned model for those ordinary people.

M20-D adopts milder performance magnet which is magnetized with lower voltage. We do magnetizing by ourselves in our factory so it's easy to control.
The max power of M20-D is 250 watts at 40 km/h. It's 43% milder than standard models like M70-R or M80-R. But it's strong enough for most cases in daily exercise.

Cautions

Important Notice

  • Mag resistance unit may become HOT while workout. Do NOT touch it during and at least for 15 minutes after finishing session.
  • The rear wheel spins very fast and will cause serious injury if touch them. Keep children and pets away from trainer while using.
  • The maximum load of M20-D is 120 kgs including bike weight.
  • The couplings fit the supplied quick release skewer only. You cannot use your own skewer on Minoura trainer. You must replace the skewer before use.
  • Hub nut type bike should have fitting problem. The inner diameter on coupling is larger than the standard hub nut so we cannot guarantee the stability. Replace the left side coupling to the optional special one.
  • Any bike with internal transmission type hub cannot be used.
  • M20-D does NOT have the Foot-Step. It's the normal knob bolt style.
  • M20-D is NOT compatible with Watt-Master.
