What's MOZ-Roller?

The MOZ-Roller is Minoura's latest roller design. It combines the best of the previous Advance and Action roller models.
It gives you the triple folding frame for extreme compact storage, with the benefits of the 80mm diameter roller drums.
The 415mm rollers have been re-designed with thicker walls and outer supports, for further reduced noise levels.

New rollers drums

The MOZ uses 80mm rollers. The smaller the roller diameter, the more resistance comes from the roller, because there is more tire compression/deformation. If you like more resistance, you can add a magnetic Resistance unit onto the rear roller, which is driven by a belt.
The smaller 80mm rollers also put you closer to the ground, so better for riders new to rollers, because you are 25mm closer to the ground.
The roller design has been modified by increasing material and different support sides, to lower the already low noise from Minoura rollers. The rollers are also completely symmetrical, making assembly easier.

New triple-folding frame

We adopted the frame from the Action model, to reduce the folded volume and incorporating a step on the middle portion of the frame. This step makes it very easy getting on/off the frame.
The frame tubing is made from alloy for lightweight and has an anti-rust white coating.

Foot Step & Front Guard (option)

For the less experienced riders, these items will make it easier again to ride the rollers. The step will get you closer to the seat, so easier for getting on/off the bike. The Front Guards will help you riding off the rollers, in case you loose your balance badly. It will stop you riding off the roller, as well as slowing the wheel speed.

Wheel sizing from 24-inch to 700c

or the best balance, it is importanmt the wheel base of the bike matches the rollers. The rollers are position adjustable; 6 positions on the front roller, and 2 positions on the rear roller.
The applicable wheelbase size is 950 – 1,090mm (+/- 10mm).
For smaller wheels it is best to first set the rear roller to the most forward hole, then adjust the front to suit.

Cautions

Important Notices

  • If you are just a beginner to rollers, we strongly recommend you to ride rollers beside a wall or handrail for your safety.
  • Try to keep a very relaxed grip on the handlebars and to keep most weight onto the saddle.
  • Standing up (Dancing) on rollers is not recommended.
  • Adjust the front roller in the correct position that fits your bike's actual wheelbase perfectly. If the front roller is in wrong position, handling becomes a lot harder and might lead to falling off.
  • Do not apply brakes at anytime while riding on the rollers, because it might lead to unwanted balance reactions because of the flywheel effect of the rollers. To stop, just stop pedalling which will reduce the speed gradually.
  • Maintain the tire pressure on the high side of the allowed tire pressure, because roller drums will deform the tire more than flat ground. If the pressure is low, the tire will deform too much, resulting in tire sidewall damage and additional noise.
  • Keep children and pets away from rollers during session. The touching of the spinning wheel, roller or belts all can cause injury.
  • o not hang any towel over the top-tube or handlebar, they might get caught in the spinning front wheel. We suggest using the SafeT-Net accessory to catch the sweat instead.
  • Repeat: Standing up (Dancing) on rollers is not recommended.
  • The actual rollers are not designed for standing on, you can fall over and the rollers might get damaged.
  • Wheel size needs to be 26"/650c or larger wheel bike only. When in doubt, check the specs of the rollers versus the bicycles wheelbase. It's dangerous to use with any smaller wheel because of too short wheelbase and hard to maintain the bike level.

Tire Noises

I hear squealing noises from the tire

The Rollers will deform the tire more than roads; therefore the tire pressure needs to be maintained better. It is best to inflate the tire to the maximum recommend pressure, as printed on the tire.
If the pressure is lower, the tire will deform more, causing noises.

It is possible in cold conditions, that when the tire is cold, you will hear noises, but they will quickly disappeared as the tire warms up.

Roller Belt #1

The roller belt has broken

The rubber belt connects the mid and front rollers, to drive both wheels at the same time/speed, when training. The momentum from the spinning wheels helps you to ride easier.
The belt is made from a flexible urethane material and there is only one model, to suit all Minoura trainers
If the belt has broken, we recommend replacement with a new one, for a 100% guaranteed solution.
If that for some reason is not immediately possible, it is possible to try to re-join the belt by melting both sides of the break on a hot iron and than pushing them together. Please take all caution in regards to heat and melted plastics.

Roller Belt #2 New

I hear very loud noises when accelerating

The belt is made from a flexible urethane material and there is only one model, to suit all Minoura trainers
If the noise does not go away after a couple of minutes, it means the belt is stretched beyond elasticity. This is most common to happen when the roller set is not folded for storage
We recommend replacement with a new one, for a 100% guaranteed solution.

Roller Shaking

I see the roller is not trued and shakes vertically

Every roller drum is checked in our factory before packing. The allowance is up to 0.3mm.
If your roller shakes more than 0.3mm, we shall present a replacement roller. Please contact Customer Service (infodesk@minoura.jp).

Noise from Drum New

The noise is louder than I expected

It's the destiny on rollers that the noise level from roller drum is louder than stationary trainer, because the tread pattern on bike tire continues hitting the drum surface and it rebounds in the hollow drum whenever it's used.
This is an unavoidable negative point on every rollers, therefore, some apartment house prohibits using rollers in night time.

We put two styrofoam pieces into the drum for insulating the noise.
It should be a grass wool but we cannot keep correct balance of such material and it will cause vibration, so we have to stand in styrofoam.
We don't put this styrofoam in the drum center area (approximately 10cm width) due to the limited production method. You should ride on rollers a little offset from the center.

Competitors often make the roller drum with plastic to try to solve this problem, but plastic material will be worn out quicker than metal, and it will cause static electricity in dry winter season. You will receive uncomfortable electric shock when getting off the bike.
We don't want to present such stupid problem to any user so we have been concentrating on metal roller only.
