Rollers for Pro's

What is special about the AC-Pro?

The AC-Pro is the Minoura roller set that is designed for very hard training by professional riders. The AC-Pro needed to be superiorly stable and being able to be used at very high speeds.
This is such a specialist usage, which resulted in 99% of all AC-Pro parts to be custom made, for this model only.

The Frame

Rollers require a foldable frame design, for easy of transport and storage. Because of the AC-Pro being used by very powerful riders, the folding ability has been compromised for strength and it is a little larger/wider folded than the other roller sets from Minoura. The frame can adjust into 6 different wheelbases to suit different sized bikes perfectly, track or road, from 960 to 1085 mm.
There is also a built-in step, for easy on/off, as well as built-in carry handles.
Even the paint job is special, being double-layer, to avoid corrosion due to sweat. It will also increase the lifespan of the unit.

The Rollers

These were widened to 450mm and increased to 105mm in diameter. The increased material thickness gives a larger flywheel weight and less noise. Add to this the 7.5 Kg for all 6pcs of the specially machined steel end-caps and you can understand the very large flywheel effect for stability at speed. To cope with this, the bearings have also been increased, as well as the axle thickness.

Cautions

Important Notes

  • If you are just a beginner to rollers, we strongly recommend you to ride rollers beside a wall or handrail for your safety.
  • Try to keep a very relaxed grip on the handlebars and to keep most weight onto the saddle.
  • Standing up (Dancing) on rollers is not recommended.
  • Adjust the front roller in the correct position that fits your bike's actual wheelbase perfectly. If the front roller is in wrong position, handling becomes a lot harder and might lead to falling off.
  • Do not apply brakes at anytime while riding on the rollers, because it might lead to unwanted balance reactions because of the flywheel effect of the rollers. To stop, just stop pedalling which will reduce the speed gradually.
  • Maintain the tire pressure on the high side of the allowed tire pressure, because roller drums will deform the tire more than flat ground. If the pressure is low, the tire will deform too much, resulting in tire sidewall damage and additional noise.
  • Keep children and pets away from rollers during session. The touching of the spinning wheel, roller or belts all can cause injury.
  • Do not hang any towel over the top-tube or handlebar, they might get caught in the spinning front wheel. We suggest using the SafeT-Net accessory to catch the sweat instead.
  • Repeat: Standing up (Dancing) on rollers is not recommended.
  • The actual rollers are not designed for standing on, you can fall over and the rollers might get damaged.
  • Wheel size needs to be 26"/650c or larger wheel bike only. When in doubt, check the specs of the rollers versus the bicycles wheelbase. It's dangerous to use with any smaller wheel because of too short wheelbase and hard to maintain the bike level.
  • There is no additional resistance unit for the AC-Pro.

Tire Noises

I hear squealing noises from the tire

The Rollers will deform the tire more than roads; therefore the tire pressure needs to be maintained better. It is best to inflate the tire to the maximum recommend pressure, as printed on the tire.
If the pressure is lower, the tire will deform more, causing noises.

It is possible in cold conditions, that when the tire is cold, you will hear noises, but they will quickly disappeared as the tire warms up.

Roller Belt #1

The roller belt has broken

The rubber belt connects the mid and front rollers, to drive both wheels at the same time/speed, when training. The momentum from the spinning wheels helps you to ride easier.
The belt is made from a flexible urethane material and there is only one model, to suit all Minoura trainers
If the belt has broken, we recommend replacement with a new one, for a 100% guaranteed solution.
If that for some reason is not immediately possible, it is possible to try to re-join the belt by melting both sides of the break on a hot iron and than pushing them together. Please take all caution in regards to heat and melted plastics.

Roller Belt #2

I hear very loud noises when accelerating

The belt is made from a flexible urethane material and there is only one model, to suit all Minoura trainers
If the noise does not go away after a couple of minutes, it means the belt is stretched beyond elasticity. This is most common to happen when the roller set is not folded for storage
We recommend replacement with a new one, for a 100% guaranteed solution.
